The San Diego show is currently underway and Salt Lake promoters were there when they got the legal papers. Bryan Brandenburg, Co-Founder of Salt Lake Comic-Con, said despite all of this he believes the Salt Lake event will still take place in September.
"We checked with attorneys about this...we can be assured based on trademark research that they've already tried to fight the way we use it. We've got 100 percent confidence that we will prevail through this."
Brandenburg claims the tactic has failed on other "Comic-Cons" around the country. He says part of the motive is jealousy because the Salt Lake event was so successful.
