Is your child unhappy in the traditional brick and mortar school? DeLaina Tonks, principal and director of Mountain Heights Academy shared the benefits of online schooling.
Mountain Heights Academy is an accredited, online public charter school for grades 7 through 12. Often times in brick and mortar classrooms students do not receive ample amount of one-on-one time with the teacher, but within the online schooling environment teachers are giving students more one-on-one help and direct interaction. Online schooling also provides flexibility to students that they may not be receiving in the typical classroom setting. Students can work at their own pace, fast or slow, as they work to complete each week’s assignment.
Through events such as monthly service-learning activities and school dances, students have opportunities for face-to-face social activities outside of school. Students enjoy their experience and are the school’s primary advocates. Often commenting that they have met friends they otherwise would not have been friends with, students value the social opportunities Mountain Heights Academy provides.
While you can be a full time student at Mountain Heights Academy, students in grades 9-12 have the option of enrolling in up to 4.0 online credits. This can be beneficial if one class in particular is not working for your child in their traditional school.
It is not too late to enroll for this school year!
