According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 87 percent of Americans regularly wear their seatbelts while in a moving vehicle. While that may be a high percentage, injuries and deaths still take place each day that can be prevented by the wearing of seatbelts.
AAA says that seat belts are the single most effective means of reducing the risk of death in a crash and have saved nearly 300,000 lives since 1975 in the U.S. alone.
Although wearing seat belts is the safe and smart thing to do in a moving vehicle, it is also the law. Click here to see a great explanation of Utah’s seat belt law.
