SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - A 12-year-old boy with a life-threatening illness had his dream come true.  With a little help from the Salt Lake Fire Department.

Dylan became an honorary firefighter at fire station two. A dream of his for a long time.

He also got a tour of the station, and a ride along in one of the fire engines around the city.

Salt Lake City Fire spokesman Jasen Asay said, “This type of event is great for everybody. It's great for Dylan, to be able to come and meet the firefighters and no that people care about him. But it's also great for the fire fighters for be able to give back.”

The Salt Lake City Fire Department worked together with a group called Mascot Miracles Foundation to make this day happen for Dylan.

If you'd like to help out his family, there’s an account at Mountain America First Credit Union under mascot miracles foundation.
