Everyone is talking about the men's basketball team here on campus. Check out the student newspaper with the team on the front page and on the sports page. Students here say there's pride in Wolverine green and it's growing.

“We're scrappy, we work the hardest so we're conditioned to go,” said UVU Student Body President Jono Andrews.

“We worked hard the whole season to earn the right to be the number one seed,” said UVU Head Coach Dick Hunsaker.

Just days before the first battle in the tourney in Vegas, the men’s basketball team continues that hard work in practice. With a lot of prove at the start of the season, the Wolverines have far exceeded expectations.

“We're on the boards, we're making sure things are happening, and we're playing smart,” said Andrews.

And the campus community is taking notice. Attendance at games is up and so is school spirit.

“It gets loud the other day I had a headache. There's tons of green, we're chanting, and we're standing most of the time,” said student Elsa Alvarado.

Elsa Alvarado and other students, staff, and alumni will head to Vegas to cheer on the team. A team that could faces the brawlers New Mexico State later on in the WAC Tournament. What about a possible NCAA tournament birth? Well, looking past the next game just isn’t Head Coach Dick Hunsaker’s style.

“We are going to focus on playing Thursday at 1pm MST against Texas Pan America in the WAC Tournament,” said Hunsaker.

But one student is still dreaming.

“To be able to fill out my bracket that UVU goes all the way? It would be a dream come true honestly,” said Andrews.
