Girls soccer playoffs reach title games

DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Viewmont and Brighton will play for the 5A title, while Timpanogos and Skyline will battle for the 4A championship.
DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - The championship matches are all set in the girls state high school soccer playoffs.

In 5A, Brighton advances to the title game after a 5-0 blowout win over Fremont. After a scoreless first half, Nadia Gomes scored three times in the second half, while Sydney Meyers and Jayde Jones also added goals for the Bengals.

Brighton moves on to the 5A title game against Viewmont. The Vikings eliminated Lone Peak, 1-0, on a 54th minute goal by Kaitlyn Palmer. Haley Johnson earned the shutout in goal for Viewmont.

In the 4A semifinals, Skyline defeated East, 1-0 on a first half goal by Jaslyn Masina. Eagles goalkeeper Emily Weixler recorded the shutout as the Eagles defense prevented any serious scoring threat by the Leopards.

Skyline will play Timpanogos for the title after the Timberwolves knocked off Mountain View, 2-0. Imerida Williams and Rachelle Warner scored goals for the T-wolves, who defeated the Bruins for the third time this season.

Both championship games will be played Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium. The 4A game will be played at 4:30, while the 5A contest will begin at 7:00.
