BYU associate athletic director Duff Tittle released the following statement on Wednesday:
BYU is aware of the allegations and has been conducting a thorough review of the matter.
Radio station 1280 The Zone is reporting that the investigation centers around former director of football operations Duane Busby, who retired this past year after 18 years at the school.
Former BYU wide receiver Cody Hoffman's manager, Sam Leaf, told the radio station that Hoffman was asked to participate in the investigation, but declined so he could focus on his NFL career. Leaf added that Hoffman did not receive any improper benefits himself.
Some of the gifts believed to be received by current and former players are meals, discounted housing and cash.
If it finds improper benefits were handed out, the school will most likely self-impose sanctions. The NCAA does not comment on any potential or ongoing investigations.
