Salem Hills sweeps 4A boys and girls basketball titles

Skyhawks win two state championships Saturday

OREM, Utah (ABC4 Sports) - James Nelson scored 27 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, as the Salem Hills boys basketball team defeated Juan Diego to win the 4A boys basketball championship, 64-55.

Tyson Bishop added 13 points for the Skyhawks, who entered the fourth quarter trailing by three points, but outscored the Soaring Eagle in the final quarter, 29-17. 

Jacob Wolfe had a team-high five assists for Salem Hills, while Jason Ricketts led Juan Diego with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Salem Hills made it a clean sweep in 4A, as the girls team won its very first state title, beating Hurricane, the 4A girls championship, 57-35.

Lauren Gustin was absolutely dominant, scoring 32 points to go along with 13 rebounds, as the Skyhawks used a 15-2 third quarter to pull away.

Hailey Johnson had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the Skyhawks. Hurricane was led by Jayden Langford with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Salem Hills finishes the season with a record of 24-1.
