Utah's Joe Williams picked by 49ers, BYU's Jamaal Williams drafted by Green Bay

PHILADELPHIA (ABC4 Sports) - A pair of local running backs named Williams were taken in the 4th round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Utah running back Joe Williams was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 121st overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers. Williams retired from football for a month after the second game of the 2016 season, but returned with a vengeance. He averaged 190 yards rushing in his last seven games, and finished with 1,407 yards for the season despite missing four games. He set a school record with 332 yards against UCLA.

13 picks later, BYU's all-time leading rusher Jamaal Williams was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. Williams finished his brilliant career with the Cougars last year with 3,901 yards rushing and 35 touchdowns. As a senior, Williams rushed for 1,375 yards and 12 touchdowns. Williams set a BYU school record with 286 yards rushing against Toledo.
