Judge Memorial, South Summit, Duchesne win state titles

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Judge Memorial won its first state football championship in 30 years, as the Bulldogs beat Manti in the 3A title game, 36-22 at Stewart Stadium in Ogden.

Trailing 22-20 entering the 4th quarter, Michael Kearns and Henry Garcia scored touchdowns to give Judge the victory.

In the 2A championship, South Summit pounded Grand, 42-8. The Wildcats forced four turnovers, while Colby Alverett rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

Duchesne captured its 5th straight 1A championship, holding off Rich, 14-13. The Eagles stuffed a 2-point conversion with just over two minutes left as Duchesne held on for its state record 47th straight victory. Matt Dye had 89 yards rushing and a touchdown in the win.
