Gordon Hayward enjoys All-Star Game debut

Hayward scores 8 points and has a game-high 4 steals in West victory

NEW ORLEANS (ABC4 Sports) - Gordon Hayward's first NBA All-Star Game was an enjoyable experience.

After finishing runner-up in the Skills Challenge, the Utah Jazz forward scored 8 points on 4 of 7 shooting, to go along with a game-high 4 steals and 2 assists as the Western Conference beat the Eastern Conference, 192-182.

"I was nervous definitely from the first time I went out there," Hayward said. "Like you almost don't know what to do. Am I playing defense? Do I run back, do I not run back?"

Asked if he realized he had the most steals by anyone, Hayward said, "I did not know that. I guess I was playing more defense than I thought!"

Hayward missed all three of his 3-point attempts, but said the best part of the weekend was hanging out with the greatest players in the game.

"That was the best part, just hanging out with those guys, just small talking with them. It was really fun."

Hayward and the Jazz return to action Friday night in Milwaukee.
