SANPETE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 news) Mountain Lions are not an unusual sight in rural areas of Sanpete County, but for one woman, having one in her backyard was a little bit of a surprise.
Millie Petersen, who lives just outside of Fountain Green, said she has seen them before, but not quite so close as the one she found in a tree in her backyard.
"I have seen them before, I am not really afraid of them, but I do know to keep my pets inside," said Petersen. "I just walked closer and closer and was able to see him really close."
Petersen said some people came to her door to help her get the mountain lion out of her yard and once he came out of the tree, he went back up into the mountain.
Petersen said she lives very close to the Norbest farms and that is why she is certain this is most likely not the last mountain lion she ever gets to see.
