SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) - Salt Lake City’s mayor honored refugee women this afternoon and expressed concern over president elect Donald Trump.
A group called women of the world invited refugee women to the county building to pay tribute to their achievements. Namely learning a new language and adapting to our culture.
Mayor Biskupski says “You pay taxes, our children attend schools together. And each of you contribute to Salt Lake City’s cultural vibrancy. We know refugees and immigrants add strength to our community and it is our responsibility to carry on our proud tradition of being a welcoming city.”
She referred to Donald trump's negative comments about refugees and promised these women that their rights would be protected in Salt Lake City.
