A celebration today included face painting and drawings

DRAPER, Utah (ABC4 News) Living Planet Aquarium kicked off the New Year with a fun filled party and a live countdown with a massive balloon drop Saturday afternoon in Draper.

The annual event started at 11 a.m. and lasted until 2 p.m. They did a countdown to the stroke of noon and celebrated with more activities and prizes.

Val Cameron, the morning from B98.7 said they do this every year.

"This is our "Noon Years Eve" celebration at the Aquarium," Cameron said. "At noon we drop all the balloons and all the kids have a really good time, we love it, it is such a blast, especially for kids who don't necessarily stay up until midnight."

Caroline Ralston, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium said today is the biggest party of the year.

"We have been doing this for 8 years and we expect to be almost at capacity today," Ralston said. "The kids love it, they go nuts, who wouldn't with 2,000 balloons falling from the ceiling?"

There were a lot of activities to entertain all the kids and keep them busy both before and after the big anticipation of the drop.
