Irritated Bar Patron Flees From Police, Rolls off Freeway, Attempts to Run on Foot

The man was seen banging his head on the steering wheel in the parking lot

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4 News) UPDATE: The suspect that fled from a traffic stop in South Salt Lake and rolled the car he was driving on I-15 at the I-80 interchange has been booked into jail.

He has been identified as Enos Slivers, 31, of Salt Lake City.

A man is in the hospital after fleeing from police, rolling his vehicle, then trying to get away on foot in South Salt Lake early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Winters, South Salt Lake Police said the incident happened just after 2 am when police were called to a local bar on a report that a man was banging his head on the steering wheel. When officers arrived, the car was no longer there.

Winters said the vehicle was spotted and pulled over as the driver was getting onto northbound I-15 at 3300 South. While the officer was in the process of checking his ID, the driver grabbed the keys off the top of the vehicle where the officer had placed them and drove away.

The officer did not pursue the driver but as he headed towards the address on his license, the officer noticed the car had rolled off the freeway from I-15 to I-80.

The driver again fled the scene, this time on foot. After jumping over some fences and running along TRAX on Haven Ave and 200 West, the suspect was apprehended.

The man was taken to the hospital for wounds he received from climbing over barbed wire fencing and according to Gary Keller, public information officer for South Salt Lake Police, has not yet been released.

He will be booked into the Salt Lake County Jail once he is treated.
