WOODS CROSS, Utah (ABC4 News) A Utah Transit Authority FrontRunner train collided with a FedEx semi-truck Saturday morning in Woods Cross.
South Davis Metro Fire Department Chief Jeff Bassett said they were dispatched just before 10 a.m. to the area of 1100 North and 2600 South on report of a FrontRunner train vs semi-truck crash.
"When our units arrived officers noticed the front trailer of the truck was pretty much cut in half," Bassett said. "We immediately assessed the drivers for injuries and then checked on the passengers of the train."
Bassett said there were 82 passengers on the train, none of whom were injured.
The damaged train was unhooked from the rest of the train and the passengers were then transported to another station.
The train and FedEx truck suffered quite a bit of damage. It is not known why the truck was on the tracks at that time or if the crossing arms were working.
The crash is still being investigated however Bassett said it was lucky no one was seriously injured and that the train did not derail.
