Colorado Murder Suspect Caught After High Speed Chase in Garfield County

The man was wanted out of Arapahoe County in Colorado

GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) A suspect wanted out of Colorado for murder was arrested after taking deputies with Garfield and Piute County on a high speed chase Friday morning.

Deputies arrested  27-year-old David Carlos Craine and a passenger, Lindsy Michelle Petschauer after they say the two took officers on a chase of speeds over 100 mph.

Cheryl Church, Garfield County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said a Piute County Deputy attempted to stop a car at about 10 a.m. for traveling at 104 mph. The driver would not stop and a high speed chase continued into Garfield County.

Officers from the Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah Highway Patrol and Garfield County Sheriff's Office were able to use spike strips to deflate all four tires of the vehicle. Church said the vehicle continued on its rims until Craine eventually lost control near Panguitch.

Both Craine and Petschauer attempted to run on foot but were apprehended. They have both been booked into the Garfield County Jail.
Craine has been wanted out of Arapahoe County, Colorado, since a fatal shooting at an apartment complex on December 29 where police found a 36-year-old man lying in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound. The victim died from his injuries at the hospital and a warrant was then issued for Craine.
