Baby owl finds new nest to call home

CEDAR CITY, Utah (ABC4)-A baby owl found a new nest to call home after he fell out of his in Beaver, Utah.

The flammulated owl was brought to Martin Tyner, a federally-licensed wildlife rehabilitator with the Southwest Wildlife Foundation in Cedar City, where it will be taught how to take care of itself before it's released into the wild.

"The flammulated owl is the smallest owl found in Utah," said officials from the Southwest Wildlife Foundation in Cedar City. "It will be approximately 4 inches in height full grown. They are the only dark-eyed owl in Utah. Their preferred nesting site is old abandoned woodpecker holes in trees. Their preferred diet is primarily large insects and small mice."
