Vegas man accused of human trafficking in St.George

ST. GEORGE (News4Utah)- A Las Vegas man is sitting in Washington County Jail facing charges related to human trafficking.

Police say Jerome McFadden traveled from Vegas to St.George, met with a victim, and created an online ad on a site known for sex worker advertisements.

"Jerome used the victim's phone to converse with the people responding to the online ad," Ofc. Lona Trombley with the St. George Police Department said.

Ofc. Trombley said he then set up several appointments with clients.

"The victim stated that she had seen numerous clients due to the online ad," she said. The victim told police McFadden kept the money that she had been paid.

"Evidence was discovered in her apartment that corroborated her statement," Ofc. Trombley said.

When officers confronted McFadden about the situation they say he resisted arrest and refused to cooperate.

"It was determined that Jerome had recruited the victim into prostitution by use of fraud and coercion. By Jerome creating an online ad he encouraged, induced, or otherwise purposely caused the victim to remain a prostitute," Trobley said.

McFadden was booked on exploiting a prostitute, human trafficking, and resisting arrest.
