St. George police hope to get stolen items back to owners

ST. GEORGE (News4Utah) - Police in Southern Utah are requesting anyone who believes they could have been a victim of theft to contact them.

They say there were 31 burglaries stemming from three arrests made in 2016 and many of the stolen items are still in the hands of police. Personal belongings taken from antique stores to cars, restaurants, homes and construction sites.

Lona Trombley with St. George Police Department said the items were stolen between October 2015 and March 2016.

“We have a significant amount. Enough that it's nearing time for it to go up for Auction, but of course we'd rather return it to it's owner," said Trombley.

Stephen Gardner, Keisha Peterson, and Shale Thompson were arrested in March - charged with the thefts - and Trombley said the items stolen range from ice cream cakes to larger scale construction equipment.

If you were the victim of a theft, you are asked to call the St. George Police evidence room at 435-627-4326.
