ST. GEORGE (News4Utah)- Just after noon on Monday officials evacuated students from Pine View High School.

According to police, the School Resource Officer was notified of a "suspicious incident' when school officials decided to evacuate after reports that a student's backpack was "smoking."

The school district says the students were successfully evacuated and accounted for.

Police say inside the backpack they found an "object that had potential to injure."

A juvenile is being interviewed as a person of interest, authorities say.

Hurricane police said this person is also suspected in a case of vandalism that happened at Hurricane High School in February.

The American flag at Hurricane High was replaced with an ISIS flag. Graffiti was also spray painted on the building.

Police say charges will be screened in the coming days.
