ST.GEORGE, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A man is behind bars after police say he raped a woman sleeping in her bed.
Thursday, police responded to the call near 1800 East Golda Avenue. The victim told police she woke up to the suspect, identified as Braden Gifford, raping her.
The victim told police she shares a home with others and Gifford had been sleeping on the couch. “[He] [was] told he is not allowed upstairs where the bedrooms are,” charging documents said.
Documents say Gifford told police he only went upstairs because “she told him to come up and have sex with her”. The victim, however, says she did not consent and it was in no way wanted.
Gifford was booked into Washington County jail and faces a rape charge.
