3/6/2018 - SALT LAKE CITY, Utah(News4Utah) Hale Centre Theatre is celebrating its current production, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is now playing on the Centre Stage at the new Mountain America Performing Arts Centre. Michael Fox, Chief Operations Officer, Associate Marketing Director & Treasurer of the Hale Centre Theatre, joined Nicea DeGering with all the information you need to know about the new show.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is only the second production on the theater in the round Centre Stage. The show features a unique 20-member choir, large impressive sets that come up from below, drop from above or enter from the sides, and breathtaking stage configurations that make the French tale come to life as never before.
The musical, which is designed, directed, produced and performed by Utahns, features music from the Disney adaptation, as well as new songs added specifically for the show.
Audiences will be drawn in by the emotionally intertwined story of Quasimodo, Frollo, Esmeralda and Phoebus, that touches on the importance of kindness, humanity and love.
This version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame is true to Victor Hugo’s novel with more dark and gothic tones. The play is recommended for older children and adults.
An assistive listening system also is built inside the seats of the Centre Stage to transmit sound to people with hearing loss.
