Speaker Greg Hughes Reveals Thoughts on 2016 Legislative Session

During the 45 day legislative session lawmakers passed 475 bills that are now off to the Governor for consideration.
 
Speaker Greg Hughes oversees the process in the House, and joined Midday to provide his perspective of how it went. 
 
Some of the bills that passed could lead to partial Medicaid expansion that will extend coverage to 16,000 Utahns, increased funding for public schools, provide $27 million to address homelessness, a $53 million coal port in Oakland, CA, give new guidelines for body cams, and new requirements for abortions preformed after 20 weeks.
 
Effort to legalize medical marijuana and abolish the death penalty failed.
