Police and firefighters to face off in boxing match

11/02/2017 - SALT LAKE CITY, Utah(ABC4 News) Firefighters getting ready to face off with police in the boxing ring for Saturday Night Fight Night.

Captain Jerry Lund, a 28-year veteran firefighter and Captain of the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, will take on Ryan M., a 13-year veteran of the police force who currently is with the Salt Lake City Police Department at the Karl Malone Training Center in Lehi. The winner will prove which first responder is the most fit, but the money raised will also go to a good cause. Money will go to families of those who have fallen in the line of duty. Some proceeds will be donated to the Utah 1033 Foundation, which helps families of fallen officers. A portion will also go to the Utah Chapter of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the survivors of fallen fire heroes.

The contenders have had nine weeks of boxing training at Legends Boxing to prepare for the match. Each match will have three one-minute rounds. The fights will also include a US Marshal vs. Parole Officer, Park Ranger vs. Corrections Officer and more.

General admission tickets are $20.00. Table seating is also available and range from $125.00 - $180.00 for four guests.  Supporters of the event include City Creek Mortgage, Fresco Press, Darkside Tactical Group, and Avahlee. Tickets can be purchased online at: UtahBoxing.net/buy-tickets.
