There was some promising news that came out of the Alzheimer's Association International Conference that was held July 12th - July 17th in Copenhagen Denmark. That is the world's largest conference for Alzheimer's Research. It was reported that there is potential in new smell and eye tests in the early detection of Alzheimer's.
One study found that the inability to correctly identify odors may indicate the development of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's Disease.
Two additional studies looked at possible eye tests to detect Alzheimer's.
Both tests are some time away from being in doctor's offices, but they are promising.
If you'd like to help in Alzheimer's research in our state, there are four walks coming up that provide funding. They are in Provo on September 6, 2014... Salt Lake City on September 13, 2014.... Logan on September 20, 2014 and in Ogden on September 27, 2014.
