Police tell ABC 4 Utah they still don't know who is responsible but we do know the victim's name is Mario Cisneros from
At 1:45 Friday morning police received a phone call from a concerned person reporting they had found a man lying in the road at
Cisneros barely able to talk told police he was walking to his mother’s apartment when he was struck. As for the driver who took off police say had he stopped he may not be facing criminal charges. “When the pedestrian is not in the crosswalk it changes certain legal issues about yield to the pedestrian and so forth but still obviously the driver knew there was impact of a person in this case and should have stopped and by not stopping has committed a crime,” said Sgt. Roberts.
Police are following up with businesses in the area that may have surveillance video. However, they are asking anyone that has information to come forward and call the West Jordan Police Department at 801-840-4000.
