Gala for Charity That Uses Art to Help Uganda

Musana's Second Annual Gala is being held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at 6:30pm in the Rotunda Room of the Utah State Capitol Building.

The event promises to an evening of great entertainment, fine dining and charity all in effort to change lives in the Lugazi, Uganda community.

Musana is the word for sunlight in the local language of Luganda. The nonprofit social enterprise choose the name because they feel their artisans act as sunlight within their community. Musana artists had craft products that are sold in the U.S. Through the program the artisans are able to  provide for their families, pay for their childrens' schooling, and ensure themselves a brighter future. In addition to stable employment, they also recieve classes  English, business, and health.

Harriet Ochieng, the Gala's keynote speaker,  was one of Musana's first artisans. Harriet will share her story at the event.

The Pop Orchestra will provide the evening's entertainment.

Midday's very own Emily Clark will emcee the event!
