SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – The Animal Advocacy Alliance of Utah is sponsoring another “Don’t forget the pets” food drive.

Organizers say there are a lot of pets in need this year due to the recession.

“It's those that have been foreclosed upon, and they move into an apartment, and the apartment doesn't allow pets and they end up being turned over to the shelters and they've really overcrowded,” said Anne Davis of the Animal Advocacy Alliance.

The food drive took place on Sunday at the Petsmart that is located at 389 West and 1830 South. Pet food donations will also be accepted on Monday.
