SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- Police are investigating a fatal fall in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The incident was originally reported to be a drowning in the Donut Falls area on Saturday afternoon.

Unified Police Det. Ken Hansen said authorities were called to the area after a woman fell into the water and didn't come back up for about 30 minutes. Search and rescue officials from Salt Lake County have been called out to the area. Police have confirmed that the woman likely died from the fall and not from drowning.

ABC 4 Utah has a crew on the way, and we will post more details as they become available.
