Woman dies after being struck by car on State Street.

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) A young woman was hit by a car while crossing State Street on Saturday night and later died.

At about 7:30 p.m. 26 year old Maria DeAquino was walking across State Street at about 3700 South most likely to use the bus stop. She was crossing east to west, when she was hit by a southbound Toyota Prius. She was not at a crosswalk. 

DeAquino was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead there.

There is an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident. South Salt Lake Police say that charges against the driver are pending, but that there was no indication of alcohol or drug use in the cases of the driver and the victim.
