Taxi driver stabbed and robbed in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 UTAH) - A taxi driver was robbed and stabbed late Wednesday night. The driver picked up a man near 910 North 900 West in Salt Lake City around 11 PM. The passenger told him to go somewhere then changed his mind and had him drop him off at 1000 North 900 West.

The passenger then told the driver to get out. The suspect then pinned the driver to the taxi cab, stole his wallet and phone, and stabbed him in the back at least three times.

A passerby saw the victim and took him to the hospital before police arrived. He is in serious condition but is expected to live.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American man, 6 feet tall, wearing blue jeans and a black jacket.
