Soccer coach charged for having a sexual relationship with a minor

BOUNTIFUL, Utah. (ABC 4 News)- A recreational league soccer coach from Bountiful was has been charged in a case of sexual abuse of a minor.

41-year-old Steve Dale Green has been charged, by the Davis County District Attorney, with one count of rape of a child, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, eight counts of rape, and two counts of forcible sodomy.

The charges stem from an investigation into reports that he had an inapproate relationship with one of this players.

In an affidavit, the victim said she met Green in 2007 and became close with Green's family. She told police that her sexual relationship with Green began back in 2008, when she was only 13-years-old, after he made advances on her. The victim is now 17.

Investigators said that the sexual activity occurred at Green's home in Bountiful on an almost daily basis. The relationship soon progressed from touching, to intercourse and lasted until 2011.

As the girl grew older and as she developed an interest in boys her own age, the relationship ended, said Bountiful Police Lt. Gary Coehn. The victim then confided in a relative about what had allegedly happened between her and Green. The relative then contacted police.
