Salt Lake County corrections officer assaulted

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) - A Salt Lake County corrections officer is reportedly in good condition after being assaulted Monday at the metro jail.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office says the assault happened after a prisoner, Jordan Poching, got upset that his phone call ended.

The officer was escorting Poching back to his cell when he turned on the officer and began beating him.

The officer had to get stitches on his eye.

Poching is now facing a third degree felony for assault by a prisoner.
