Police officer shoots neighbor's dog in search for missing toddler

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) A Salt Lake City police officer searching for a missing child ends up shooting and killing a dog.

Officers were searching yards and buildings near 2400 South and 1500 East. But when no one answered at a home an officer entered the back yard.

In the yard was a dog that approached the officer in what he described as an aggressive manner, the officer shot the dog.

An investigation is now underway to determine if the officer's actions were justified.
