OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - An Ogden man is dead after firing upon officers inside his home late Saturday night.

Just before 2:30 a.m., police responded to a domestic violence incident in the 100 block of 4th street in Ogden, said Lt. Danielle Croyle of the Ogden City Police Department.

Croyle said while officers were inside the home conducting the investigation, they were fired upon. Officers were able to return fire and tactically retreat.

She said the Ogden Metro SWAT team responded to assist officers, since the suspect had barricaded himself and refused to come out of the home.

According to officials, SWAT negotiations ceased, entry into the home was made and the suspect was found deceased.

An independent investigation conducted by the Weber County Attorney's Office is ongoing and officers involved are on paid administrative leave.
