New Years business is booming

- SALT LAKE CITY – (ABC 4 News) - Goodbye 2012, and hello to business!

"Today, we are already seeing record numbers," said Kirsta Albert with Discovery Gateway’s children museum.

The holidays have brought many companies more customers than ever, and on Monday, it seems some of those numbers hit their peak. Kirsta believes one reason was the downtown Eve celebration.

"it has absolutely been augmented by the Eve wrist band holders," said Kirsta.

Between Eve, and people out looking for some fun, Kirsta can't believe how busy it's been.

"It's been a sluggish economy, an election year, and we're starting to see folks coming out and having a little more confidence in their spending dollars," said Kirsta.

Cheesecake Factory at City Creek Center celebrated their first New Years Eve in Salt Lake.

"Downtown is such a fun part of Utah, and we anticipate a pretty good turn out," said Tyler Mckay, manager of Cheesecake Factory.

And with the expected crowds, Tyler said they have some special plans.

"We're staying open until midnight. We're normally open until 11 during the week, but obviously tonight, being a special occasion, we're giving out extra hours so people can come in, and celebrate it with us, " said Tyler.

Some, like Dean, have been celebrating all day.

"I'm coming here for the Cheesecake Factory, then after this I'm going to go bowling with my family, and then we're going to go have a New Years party," said Dean.

And he’s made an honest observation.

"I've seen pretty big crowds,” Dean said.
