It was only Wednesday Macy's made the announcement and Thursday they told ABC 4 Utah it's just part of running a healthy up to date retail store. They say the Macy's at fashion has expired their lease and is among the smallest locations in the country.“If you look at the Cottonwood location down the road that's 200,000 square feet compared to the 26,000 at Murray and given the proximity of Cottonwood we believe that's able to serve the customers in that area,” said Macy’s spokesman Jim Sluzewski.
Macy's says they are working to find other positions within the company for the 42 employees impacted at
Fashion Place is not commenting on losing the major retailer, but they do say they will be announcing their plans on what to do with the empty space in the next few days.
