Judge's ruling now permanent against Utah gang

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A judge has made permanent a 2010 court order banning members of an Ogden gang from associating with each other in public.

2nd District Judge Ernie Jones says in his ruling Monday that Weber County has established Ogden Trece is a nuisance and that its criminal activities will continue unless stopped by court order.

The injunction also sets an 11 p.m. curfew for gang members and makes it illegal for them to carry guns or graffiti tools. The Ogden attorney who represents three defendants says he will appeal the ruling, likely to the Utah Supreme Court, on constitutional grounds.

Weber County asked for the injunction to curb criminal activity of a gang authorities believe has more than 350 members.

The U.S. Supreme Court previously refused to suspend the injunction.
