Hit-and-run kills Salt Lake City bicyclist

- SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A man is dead after he was hit while riding his bicycle near the area of 1900 West California Ave. Thursday evening.

When police arrived to the scene they found a 25-year-old victim in extremely critical condition, but the driver who hit him had driven away, said Lt. Josh Scharman of the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, he said.

Police are looking for a newer model white minivan, which they believe could have been involved in the incident.

"It is not clear if the minivan was involved in the accident, or if it was a witness," said Scharman. "Either way, we hope the driver will contact us and help with the investigation."

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Salt Lake City Police at (801) 799-3000.
