Group wants to educate public about unnecessary procedures

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - As much talk as there is about health care right now, a new study shows there may actually be too much of it.

According to the Institute of Medicine, as much as 30 percent of health care in the U.S. is unnecessary.

So now - a local group is educating people on procedures and tests that are often over-used without providing much benefit to patients.

Jennifer Dailey is an advisory board member for Choosing Wisely, and the executive director of the Utah Academy of Family Physicians.

Dailey talks about what type of procedures are over prescribed in medicine.
