OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) Jessica DeBoer went to high school with the Parker family, so after the events of December 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary School she was shocked to learn that one of the victims was little Emilie.

"This is our coping mechanism," Deboer said. "We were devastated and we wanted to do something."

DeBoer and more friends of the Parkers came up with the idea of a fundraiser for the Emilie Parker Foundation. The event was held Saturday morning at Ben Lomond High School.

Fundraiser included a silent auction, food, entertainment and a balloon launch to honor young Emilie.

Deboer said the proceeds will go to the Parker family and others affected by tragedy in Connecticut.
