Thrusday more than 1,300 Smith's Food and Drug employees, throughout seven states, came together to volunteer in their local communities.

More than 100 volunteers, here locally, spent the days cleaning up the Jordan River Parkway.

Smith’s is a major sponsor of the multi-community Get into the River conservation effort.

“We started last year and we knew that we needed to give back to our community because they give so much to us at our food stores and we wanted to serve our customers, so we decided to do a day event, every year, and we did it last year and had such a great response from our associates, how they loved giving back, so we decided to do it again this year,” said Colleen Juergensen, Vice President of Operations with Smith’s Food & Drug.

The service effort will result in more than 2,600 volunteer hours or more than 100 days of service to local non-profits.
