MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Utah State University basketball player Danny Berger collapses in full cardiac arrest during practice Tuesday. His family and his doctors credit the quick thinking of the team’s trainer in saving his life.

Before emergency crews arrived sports trainer Mike Williams used a defibrillator to start Berger’s heart. Doctors say had it not been for William’s action Berger would have likely died.

Danny’s older brother John Berger told ABC 4 News, “Most of all we thank Mike Williams the Utah State University trainer who was at practice when Danny collapsed he saved my brother’s life and I thank God for him.”

The Salt Lake City Fire Department says anyone can use a defibrillator. They showed us what it looks like when someone goes into cardiac arrest and how to properly use an AED device.
