80's band The Jets preparing for new album and tour

It’s been 25 years since the fresh faces of The Jets exploded onto the music scene with the song "Crush On You." Now; this family band with Utah ties, is getting ready to hit the stage again. We met up with them in studio to learn more about their new album and upcoming tour.

The idea to get back together came after an 2009 show the group played in Hawaii.

"It was magical because it blew everyone away we actually stole the show from the headliner. And it was because of that show we started having meetings, why don't we get back together?" said Rudy Wolfgramm.

Turns out the whole group wanted to give it another shot and the time was right.

"You know it's actually been really exciting. It’s been a long time since we've even been together on stage," said Katharine Wolfgramm.

25 years to be exact. They went from being teenage kids, to having teenage kids. There are 8 members in the group and almost all of them have children. The grand total, nearly 50 kids, which can make touring a bit unique.

"That brings a whole another dimension to the jets reunited. You know we have to consider the spouses and children who are in school," Katharine said.

Because they all have families now, the group took their time writing and recording this new album which they describe as "classic."

"Something timeless, something hopefully when you pick it up 20 years from now it won't be dated," Rudy said.

Although, they'll admit, when hit the road and begin their tour their dance moves may be a little dated.

“We don't dance the way we used to and we definitely are a little heavier than we used to be, but we actually have a lot more fun," said Moana Wolfgramm.

Having fun is exactly what this family has set out to do.

The Jets are still putting their final touches on the album. Once a release date is announced, we'll have it right here on ABC 4 Utah.
