SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 Utah) - A woman was hit and killed Wednesday by several cars as she tried to run across three lanes of traffic on Interstate 80.

A friend identified the woman as Darcey Bulloch of Orem.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Mike Loveland said the woman was intoxicated. He said the woman was upset and adamant about getting out of the passenger seat of a car she was riding in.

"The driver of that car was attempting to get pulled over so she could in fact keep (the woman) from leaving a moving car," Loveland said.

When the driver came to a stop the woman got out of the car and ran across three lanes of traffic on Eastbound I-80 near Redwood Road. Several cars hit her.

"We have a half a dozen cars that were probably involved with the actual incident and possibly one or two more that we need to trace down," he said.

The drivers cooperated with authorities and were understandably upset.

Loveland said the accident is a sad reminder to be extra cautious on the roads.
