"What has happened here is totally senseless, and I think we need to honor the man who gave his life for our behalf," said Wayne Andersen.
The group also came together for Deputy Greg Sherwood as he continues to recover from his gunshot wounds.
"Greg is doing great. He is being a smart-Alec and obnoxious as ever. It's been great for the officers to come and see him," said his wife Gina Sherwood.
Both families gathered in front of hundreds to say thank you.
"Before we could tell someone what we needed, we had someone already doing it. It has been really, really amazing. My mom has taken a lot of strength in that," said Nathan Mohler.
It's a strength the family is still building on with a message to the shooter's family.
"To the man that shot Cory, our family holds no malice to anything towards them, and our hearts go out to their family because they are going through he same grieving process I'm going through," said Nanette Wride, Cory's wife.
Sgt. Cory Wride's funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at the UCCU Center on the Utah Valley University Campus in Orem. Interment at the Spanish Fork Cemetery will follow the service.
Another candlelight vigil will be held for Sergeant Wride in Eagle Mountain on Monday night at 7 PM. It will be held at Rockwell High.
