In a 12-page complaint, the ground work has been laid out to charge Timothy Vafeades with kidnapping, transportation of illegal sexual activity, transportation and possession child pornography.
Wednesday he was given his rights in a North Dakota federal court room.
“He waved his right to those hearings in this court. Then the judge ordered him to be detained and transported to the district of Utah,” said Keith Reisenauer with the US Attorney Office - Fargo, ND.
It could take the U.S. marshals several weeks to get Vafeades to Utah and present the case to a grand jury.
In the case the second victim, who we will call Jane, met with Vafeades at a Salt Lake City Sapp Brothers Truck Stop in April 2012.
Jane agreed to have dinner with him. Within a few minutes of riding with him he told her she was headed to Texas for a week or more.
He then sexually abused her on a daily basis and forced her to be quiet by repeatedly abusing her.
He filed down her teeth and forced Jane to marry him. He referred to her as his “slave.”
The two traveled on his truck called the Twilight Express to Florida, Texas and Nebraska. On July 12, 2012 in Otoe County, Nebraska, officers noticed the bruises. Vafeades was charged with battery charges Nebraska and Florida.
Then last May Vafeades own daughter came from Florida to work with him. She was 19-years-old at the time.
On a trip to Wyoming he tried to molest her while she was sleeping but then stopped.
After the trip she tried to leave but Vafeades. He then would become violent, hitting and strangling her until she blacked out. He filed down her teeth because he did not like them. He then ordered her a set of false teeth.
Vafeades also had his own set of false teeth that looked like vampire teeth.
Charging documents say over the next 6 months he would rape his daughter over 100 times on his semi truck named the Twilight Express.
In both cases Vafeades kept the girls’ identification and social security cards.
He also had two hard drives filled with child porn and he would make the girls watch it with him on his lap top.
The FBI is continuing to investigate the case.
