Ute Indian Tribe, University of Utah renew agreement over name

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Big news today from the Ute Indian tribe and the University of Utah.

The two parties have renewed their agreement and have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding allowing the university to continue using the name "Utes" for its sports teams.

One key to the agreement is an education campaign for the campus and the fans.

They want people to learn about the history of the Ute Indian Tribe, and about appropriate fan behavior.

This agreement is for five years and it will be reviewed annually.
