Earlier this month, the 19 members of Team Utah/Idaho competed in the 35th Transplant Games of America in Houston, Texas, and for the second Games in a row they earned the coveted Team Cup.

The team's 19 athletes included three living kidney donors, one double cornea recipient and 15 transplant recipients, with each competing in Olympic-style events to not only increase organ donor awareness, but honor those who have donated organs to save lives.

The athletes won a total of 70 medals in the Games, including the 45 Golds. Events included swimming, cycling, track and field, darts, golf, and basketball, to name a few.

Members from Team Utah/Idaho who competed in the Games are coming to Intermountain Medical Center on Thursday, July 31 to meet with members of Intermountain Medical Center's Transplant Program and celebrate another victory from the Transplant Games of America. They will be sharing their "Magic Moments" from the Games and participating in a photo shoot highlighting them in their sport.

Representatives from Intermountain Medical Center to acknowledged the team's victory and shared their stories of organ donation and the motivations behind the competition. Representatives from Intermountain Donor Services also discussed the continued need for organ donations.
